Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
"make it a day ON, not a day OFF"

In Remembrance of Dr. King, Americans across the country will honor King's legacy of tolerance, peace, and equality by meeting community needs and making the holiday...."a day ON, not a day OFF." UCI will be spread throughout the community serving various agencies, read the descriptions below to decide where you'd like to be.

Reservations will be accepted until Jan18th. Spaces are limited. Transportation will be provided. Meet at the UCI Flagpoles at 8am, buses depart at 8:15am.

Assembling Food Boxes for the Hungry
Agency: Community Action Partnership of Orange County
Description: Volunteers will pack boxes of food to be distributed to the hungry in Orange County. "Assembling Food Boxes for the Hungry" will take place at the Community Action Partnership's food warehouse in Garden Grove. Last year volunteers packed 10,183 boxes of food.

Harvesting for the Hungry
Agency: Second Harvest Food Bank/Society St. Vincent de Paul

Description: Volunteers will harvest crops that provide fresh food for the hungry in Orange County. "Harvesting for the Hungry" will take place at the Second Harvest Food Bank's Incredible Edible Field in Irvine. Last year 120 volunteers picked over 2,000 pounds of food that fed over 8,000 people.

 

  RESERVATIONS
