What is Hunger and Homelessness?

Hunger and Homelessness is an on-going issue on a local and worldwide scale. Look for information displays around campus about the real facts of Hunger and Homelessness. There will also be a table on Ring Road with information on different organizations that help solve this international problem. NOVEMBER 13, 2007 [Tuesday] -

7-10am: PANCAKE BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER
near Langson Library
Circle K International at UCI and SHOUT at UCI will be teaming with Kiwanis International to serve pancakes for $2 a plate. Coffee, juce, and other treats for sale as well. ALL proceeds will be DONATED to the ISAIAH HOUSE.

NOVEMBER 14, 2007 [ Wednesday]

12:00-2pm : SANDWICH SERVICE
at Ring Road on Anteater Plaza
Stop by and make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. This is to raise awareness that there are less fortunate people who can't eat as well as we do. We need help making as many sandwiches as we can! Sandwiches will be delivered to Mercy House & Share our Selves. This event is sponsored by Circle K. Int at UCI & CALPIRG at UCI.

3:00-5:30pm : SOMEONE CARES SOUP KITCHEN
Meet at the flagpoles at 3pm
Come prepare and serve food to the homeless and less fortunate at this non-profit organization, run almost entirely by volunteers like you! Space is limited RSVP to Angela, (watseng@uci.edu). This event is hosted by Circle K Int. at UCI.

6:00-8:30pm : GROOVE FOR GRATITUDE
Student Center Terrace Plaza
Come and enjoy music ( live performances), entertainment, food, and FUN with us! This is a fun benefit concert to help raise money to house a homeless family to live at the Orange County Rescue Mission's Village of hope for THREE YEARS! This event is sponsored by CALPIRG at UCI.

8:30-10:00pm : BLANKET MAKING!!
at Mesa Court, Community Center

As the nights get longer, it becomes necessary to stay warm. While we have our heated apartments and cozy beds, other might not have what we have. Come help make fleece blankets for the homeless. Co-sponsored by Circle K Int. at UCI & Mesa Court's Brisa Hall

NOVEMBER 15, 2007 [THURSDAY]

11:00 -2:00 pm : SANDWICH SERVICE
at Ring Road in front of Aldrich Hall
Stop by and make a sandwich! All sandwiches made will be wrapped up and taken to help feed the homeless! We need help making as many sandwiches as we can! Sandwiches will be delivered to Share Our Selves. Co-Sponsored by CALPIRG of UCI & Circle K. int. at UCI

6:00 -7:30pm : HUNGER BANQUET
at Cross Cultural Center Park Room
Come learn about the true disparities of people living in poverty. A representative from Invisible Children, Inc, well known for the documentary, will speak on the plight of the people of Northern Uganda. Canned food donations or $5 are requested upon a admittance. Sponsored by UNICEF at UCI.

8:00pm : SLEEPOUT
at ADMIN FLAGPOLE
Includes an evening of guest speakers, performances, food, and a night outside under the stars to endure the homeless reality. This is amazing opportunity and experience, so remember to bring your friends! Sponsored by SHOUT at UCI.

NOVEMBER 16, 2007 [ FRIDAY ]

11:00am- 3:00pm: FALL SERVICE PROJECT at SHARE OUR SELVES
- Volunteer to pack and distribute bags of groceries in the Share Our Selves food pantry to give to communities & individuals in need. We expect to pack over 300 bags of food each day! Space is limited RSVP to Center for Service in Action at 949.824.3500.
